Ceux-ci vont pouvoir s\u2019associer et enrichir la diversit\u00e9 de mati\u00e8re&nbsp;; ils vont cr\u00e9er des assemblages complexes appel\u00e9s mol\u00e9cules. Le moteur de ces assemblages est la liaison atomique. C\u2019est gr\u00e2ce aux \u00e9lectrons gravitant au plus loin du noyau, que les liaisons vont s\u2019effectuer. Il existe 4 types de liaisons&nbsp;:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-luminous-dusk-gradient-background has-background wp-block-list\"><li>La liaison ionique implique un transfert d\u2019\u00e9lectron d\u2019un atome donneur d\u2019\u00e9lectron \u00e0 un atome accepteur d\u2019\u00e9lectron. Elle lie des m\u00e9taux et des non-m\u00e9taux. C\u2019est par exemple le sel, qui est form\u00e9 de l\u2019assemblage de Na+ et de Cl-<\/li><li>La liaison covalente est une liaison chimique dans laquelle deux atomes partagent 2 \u00e9lectrons&nbsp;; c\u2019est le cas du diamant ou de l\u2019hydrog\u00e8ne<\/li><li>Dans les m\u00e9taux, les \u00e9lectrons se d\u00e9placent facilement&nbsp;; les atomes sont li\u00e9s mais les \u00e9lectrons sont libres.
